About these terms

Seato is a booking system run by Glasgow GFX on behalf of the restaurants that use it. When you book a table, your booking is with the restaurant. These terms explain how booking through Seato works. The restaurant may have its own terms too (for example about deposits or cancellations); where it does, you'll see them before you confirm, and they apply as well.

Part A: Booking a table

Your booking

Your table is held for the time shown on your confirmation. If you're running late, please let the restaurant know. Please give accurate details: the restaurant uses your mobile number to reach you about your booking.

Deposits

Where a deposit applies it is held against your booking and paid at the restaurant, where it comes off your bill on the night. Nothing is taken in the app. Whether a deposit is refunded if you cancel depends on the restaurant's cancellation terms, shown before you book.

Changes and cancellations

You can cancel from Manage or cancel on your confirmation, with your booking reference and the last four digits of your mobile number. See how to cancel. For anything else, including changing the time or the number of people, contact the restaurant.

Late arrivals and no-shows

If you don't arrive and haven't cancelled, the restaurant may record a no-show against your booking and may release your table. Where the restaurant has a no-show or late-cancellation charge, it will tell you before you confirm.

Requests, extras and allergies

We pass special requests to the restaurant, who will do their best, but they can't always be guaranteed. Extras you add when you book (such as a celebration plate) are added to your bill at the restaurant.

If you tell us about an allergy or dietary need, we pass it to the restaurant. The restaurant, not Seato, prepares your food and is responsible for allergen information and food safety. Please always remind your server when you arrive.

Using the service fairly

Please book only tables you mean to use, in your own name or for someone you're booking with. Don't make bookings in someone else's name without their permission, make automated or bulk bookings, or try to interfere with the service. We may cancel bookings that break these rules and tell the restaurant.

Our responsibility

We work hard to keep Seato available and accurate, but we can't promise it will always be uninterrupted. If something goes wrong with your booking, contact the restaurant first; they can see every booking on their host stand. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have as a consumer under UK law, or our liability where it can't legally be limited.

TODO (owner): Have a solicitor review this section (limitation of liability, consumer rights wording) for TODO: registered company name.

Part B: For restaurants

This short section is for restaurants and their staff. Your full agreement with us is the order form and service agreement you sign with Glasgow GFX; if anything here conflicts with it, that agreement wins.

  • Data. You are the controller of your guests' details; we process them on your behalf, under the data processing terms in your agreement. You're responsible for having a lawful basis for any marketing you send, and for responding to your guests' data requests (we'll help).
  • Accuracy. Keep your opening hours, tables, deposit rules, extras and cancellation terms up to date, and honour the bookings the system accepts.
  • Allergens. Allergy information from guests is passed to you as given. Food safety and allergen information remain your responsibility.
  • Access. Keep staff PINs private, and tell us when someone leaves so we can change access.
  • Fees. As set out in your quote. Guests are never charged to book.
  • Leaving. You can ask for an export of your guest book and bookings. When you leave, we delete or return your data as your agreement sets out.

TODO (owner): Link or attach the venue service agreement and data processing agreement, and set notice periods, support levels and liability terms there.

Law and contact

These terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and the Scottish courts have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you can also bring proceedings in your home courts.

TODO (owner): Confirm governing law and jurisdiction with your solicitor.
